Libyan airline MedSky on Thursday resumed direct flights between Libya and France after a hiatus of more than 15 years, launching a route connecting Tripoli, Paris and Benghazi.

The inaugural flight departed Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli on Thursday morning and arrived at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport around midday before continuing to Benina International Airport in Benghazi in the early afternoon, according to MedSky and the Libyan News Agency (LANA).

The new service provides direct air connectivity between France and Libya, linking Paris with Tripoli and Benghazi.

MedSky said direct flights between the two countries had been suspended for more than 15 years before the route was relaunched.

Earlier this month, the French Embassy in Libya welcomed the planned resumption of direct flights, describing it as a step toward strengthening ties between the two countries and facilitating travel for passengers.
