Madagascar is keen to promote its agricultural products at the first China International Import Expo (CIIE), set to begin on Monday.
The African island nation's delegation to the expo that will be hosted in the Chinese city of Shanghai will be led by tourism minister Jean Brunelle Razafintsiandraofa.
Madagascar will showcase products such as vanilla, cocoa beans, coffee beans and cloves, in addition to minerals, which include gemstones and gold.
The minister on Saturday said China offered a great opportunity for every country, and that each must know how to seize this opportunity.
Madagascar also seeks to develop its “sustainable tourism,” which puts emphasis on preserving the island's endemic flora and fauna while also developing its infrastructure.
Razafintsiandraofa hailed the fast implementation of the deals signed between his country and China.
“… with other countries, there are always promises,” he said, noting that the implementation of those deals would be subject to many conditions.
The minister expressed his satisfaction with China's rapid development.
He also hailed China's investment on environmental conservation and the measures it took to protect the environment.
The CIIE 2018 is expected to attract 2,800 exhibitors from more than 130 countries and regions.
Various heads of state are expected to grace the event.
