Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday met with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in the Shanghai ahead of the inaugural China International Import Expo (CIIE), which is set to begin on Monday.
President Kenyatta arrived in Shanghai on Saturday at the invitation of President Xi, and was accompanied by a high-level delegation.
The two leaders held talks flanked by various officials, with Kenyatta later saying the discussions “focused on promoting economic and trade exchange and cooperation between our two countries.”
The Kenyan leader said the opening up of the Chinese market would help better relations between China and Africa as well as impact Africans positively.
“As a nation we look forward to an open Chinese market for Kenya's exports,” he said.
